Tips for using our Luma AI Genie powered text-to-model generator

PreviousAuto-RigNextUsing Blender to Optimize Your Character Mesh

Last updated 8 months ago

If you don't have a character of your own and want to quickly animate something from your imagination you can use our Luma AI Genie powered text-to-model generator.

TEXT-TO-MODEL GENERATOR

  • From the 'HEAT Auto-Rig' page simply enter a text prompt into the text field and click the generate button.

This text-to-model generator is run using an API call to Luma AI so it can take up to 30 seconds to generate your models. Please be patient while the calls are completed. IF YOU GET AN ERROR WHILE GENERATING YOUR MODELS PLEASE TRY AGAIN - the API is simply being overloaded and needs to refresh.

  • You will be returned with 4 models to choose from off of your given prompt. Select one to your liking.

  • After selecting your model you will see it larger in a 3D viewport. You can now more closely inspect this model.

You can navigate the space with your mouse using LEFT CLICK to ROTATE, RIGHT CLICK to ZOOM, and SHIFT + LEFT CLICK to PAN.

  • After inspecting you can either click 'Select Model' to move on to the auto-rigging process, or you can click 'Back to Models' to choose a different of the four originally returned characters.

TIPS FOR TEXT-TO-MODEL SUCCESS

  • We automatically inject certain amendments to your prompt to optimize your character within our auto-rigger, so just keep your prompt simple! i.e. 'Superhero', 'Party Girl', 'Goth DJ', etc. Do not make your prompt plural, you are attempting to create a singular character.

  • You will have the best luck with models that are in T-pose. A-pose characters WILL WORK, but results will look better on a T-pose.

  • Look for characters that don't have any crossover in their mesh. A good example is the space between the legs.

  • Avoid choosing any characters that have visual artifacts straying from the body of the mesh. From time to time Luma will accidentally create extra vertices that are not connected to the main mesh and they will cause issues in the automatic weight painting process of our auto-rigger.

  • Do not use any characters that are returned with a platform or base, these will not work with the auto-rigging process.

  • Rarely Luma will return a character that isn't square with the 3D space. It may be facing slightly to the left or right, these characters will not rig properly so please choose a different one. AGAIN, this is a rare occurrence.

If a character is facing 90 or 180 degrees in the wrong direction this can be fixed easily within the auto-rigging process. Issues will only be with character that are slightly off axis.

Next we will go over a more advanced guide on how to optimize characters for HEAT using Blender.

Clicking 'Select Model' to immediately load the with your text-to-model generated character loaded and ready to rig!
